Many Australians didn't agree with these soldiers going and fighting in the war and when they returned the were treated poorly and they were called baby killers, psychos and drug addicts. They were not thought as hero's for fighting for their country which was wrong.

Now these soldiers are know as hero's because they are fighting for our country and when they return from war they are treated very well. Weapons and Equipment - 
They have got way different guns and equipment these days then what they had back then. The guns used these days have a higher damage per second then the guns used in the Vietnam war. So much more powerful guns and explosive weapons are used. There are so many different vehicles used today like armed one and tanks, so many different types of air support and they are all just so much more reliable.

Today is also a different type of war mode then back then. Back then there was two side that pretty much just ran at each other where these days they take their time and plan everything out. They will send a squad in to scout the area and see what the danger is while there is others ready to come in for  back up. 

Jobs - 
There are many different jobs in the army now then what there were back then. Many of the soldiers back then were trained the same and all knew the same as each other where now there are many different ranks and different soldiers that do different jobs and use different weapons. Many of the jobs now don't even fight in the actual war they are in the background fixing things, cooking or even just helping the soldiers get through. 

Health and Safety - 
Many people died from being wounded in the Vietnam war but now they have better medical resources and workers while save many of lives. Also the soldiers don't have to spend time in trenches like they used to. They have it so much easier today then what they had it back then  which is why they get so many people putting in for jobs because they know that they are more then likely to return home and get something out of their time away.

Being involved in the Vietnam war would've been hard and they shouldn't of been treated poorly on their return. They fought for their country and that's the only reason they fought was to put their country first and make sure that everyone back here was safe. They are still fighting the Afghanistan war for the same reason.
