Enelo enjoys crossing-the-midline activities, such as “touch your right knee with your left hand.” She takes pleasure in our gross motor activities painted on the outdoor court. She can confidently name and point out body parts and demonstrates good body awareness, as well as an understanding of gender concepts. Her active participation in movement activities supports the development of her coordination, spatial awareness, and overall control of her body.

Enelo is able to tear small pieces of paper and enjoys building with blocks, often constructing large towers. She can thread large beads and delights in pressing out shapes in playdough. Enelo can also complete a 20-piece interlocking puzzle independently. I am so proud of her progress and achievements.

Enelo enjoys crawling through the tyres on the jungle gym and can slide down the fireman’s pole without assistance. She also enjoys hopping and jumping, and is able to jump while keeping both feet together, demonstrating growing balance and coordination.

Enelo attempts to thread patterns and easily discriminates between different sizes and quantities, completing tasks with pride. She can identify similarities and differences in simple pictures and is able to remember and recall up to three objects she has seen. Enelo also recognises her own name. These activities support the development of her visual perception, attention to detail, and concentration. I am so proud of her achievements.

Enelo can recall sounds and repeat them accurately. She listens attentively and maintains good concentration in group activities. She can distinguish between loud and soft music and is able to match sounds to pictures. She especially enjoys listening to music at sleep time. These activities support the development of her auditory perception, listening skills, and overall musical awareness.

Enelo listens attentively to the isiZulu and Afrikaans words and is beginning to understand familiar words and follow instructions in a new language. She often repeats and copies words or sentences that she hears frequently. Enelo has an age-appropriate vocabulary, understands instructions clearly, and communicates confidently with both teachers and peers.

Enelo recognises all of the phonetic sounds taught. She can hold a book correctly and turn the pages one at a time. She has made a fantastic effort writing her name and is able to draw numbers and letters confidently on the blackboard. She can also move confidently in different directions, such as in zigzag patterns. These activities support her early literacy development, fine motor skills, and understanding of spatial awareness.

Enelo can trace numbers accurately using dotted activities. She can count from zero to twenty and recognises the numbers from zero to ten. She enjoys colour-by-number activities and understands the concept of zero. Well done, Enelo—I am so proud of your progress and achievements.

Enelo loves using different textures, such as stickers and glitter. She is creative and takes great pride in her work, always putting forth her best effort and successfully completing all the tasks she undertakes in class. She is also always eager to help her friends. I am so proud of you, Enelo.

During Term Three and Four, students are assessed on their developing understanding of number concepts, recognition, and counting skills. Children begin to recognise and name numbers from 0 to 10 and demonstrate an understanding of quantity through hands-on activities and practical experiences. They practise counting forwards and backwards to 50 with growing accuracy and confidence. In addition, students explore and identify six basic 2D shapes, describing their features and using them in creative and play-based learning experiences to build early mathematical awareness.
