Year 13 IB DT students have successfully completed the course. CAG grades are looking positive.

An extra class added for RM to year 9 students next academic year. Numbers for Graphics at Year 9 are increasing. Food Preparation & Nutrition numbers are maintaining.

Meeting with Line Manager throughout the year have been very helpful in reflecting on my practice and problem solving scenarios throughout the year. Department meetings throughout each term have been useful exercises in developing my leadership skills as well as my weekly communication on the department Teams channel. I have informally had many discussions with other Head of Departments, SLT members and SLT members/HoD's at other schools. I have used these as a means of CPD and I have found it a very useful practice in terms of continuously trying to improve my practice. My overall reflections from this year as Head of Department is that I need to continue to lead by example in terms of my work rate but empower the teachers in the department by providing more opportunities to take the lead on things throughout next academic year. I need to continue to offer my support in every instance it is needed but take more of a coaching approach rather than trying to solve other people's problems for them.

I have had consistent communication throughout the year with a HoD at JESS who has been delivering the IB curriculum for numerous years. I also engaged in moderation for the IA with three other teachers from schools in Dubai. Meetings with Danielle were also helpful in reflecting on my practice throughout the year but also upskilling Danielle to continue teaching the subject and having the capacity to take the lead on this if it should ever be necessary. My reflections on this throughout the year is that the timeline for my SoW was an issue and the end of the year became very frantic with the IA's getting completed but the support the students received from me is unsustainable moving forward. Next steps are to ensure the IA starts earlier in year 12 (already actioned) and that the deadline for the IA is aimed towards December.

At the end of last academic year it was agreed upon in the department that the KS3 projects and booklets need to be revamped. This was actioned before the start of the academic year. After Term 1, some minor modifications were made and through department meetings there were many instances of successful skill sharing as a department where different teachers were able to share different strategies on what worked well in lessons. The reflection on this growth target has identified the alterations that need to be made in the KS3 curriculum. The term 3 book look was a very useful exercise in identifying areas where KS4 SoW's can be modified and improved upon. Having reflected on the effectiveness of the KS3 booklets and especially the efficiency of the integrated marking and feedback, we have decided that towards the final weeks of this academic year we as a department will make further iterations to the KS3 booklets. For KS3 Graphics it was decided that an overhaul of the projects is necessary for next year. This work has been delegated across all members of the department. For KS4 I have asked all department teachers to develop a booklet which contains all tasks needed for the upcoming Term 1. This will aid in planning and in particular focus on how we evidence progress over time.

To develop my leadership qualities as Head of Department

To further develop my leadership skills as Head of Department by instilling a sense of ownership in each teacher within the department.

To further my impact outside of my department by acting as a coach to the new coordinator of the DofE programme.

To oversee a minimum of 90% Grade 4+ at IB and D+ at A-Level with the current Year 13 cohort.

To further develop my competency with delivering the IB curriculum by supporting three external schools, as well as benefiting from the support of an external school myself.
