It is straight up racist stereotyping by officials and some news outlets. People will consider the BLM protests to be violent and disgusting when there is really only 7% that had looting. The same people were ones who thought storming the capitol to be a good idea. This was an act of domestic terroism. It is incomparable with the BLM protests. The BLM protests were to get justice because of an unlawful killing of a black person, this attack was for political gain and political gain only. If there were BLM protestors storming the hill there would have been many more than four deaths. The police were non-existent yesterday. The national guard was nowhere to be seen. It is also troubling to see the initial reason for storming the hill was because of our current president's instructions. He is to blame for this. It is also shocking that the hill's defense was so horrible. There was a literal counting of the votes to certify the election. These rioters got in as easy as it can be. The people who got in also were extremely disrespectful, they sat in senators desks and put their feet up. Not to mention there have been reports of images of people with Nazi jackets as they walk in. We are the laughing stock of the world right now.

Politicans now care more about helping their own party then helping the country as a whole. If anyones opinions differ from their party they are afraid to speak up. This division has led to hate between parties and could lead to far greater problems then storming the capitol down the road. We always critise other countries for their lack of unity, but we showed our hypocrisy yesterday. Can we still call ourselves better then any other country? The short answer is no.

There has been a lot of both pro-Biden and anti-Biden gatherings in Washington DC in the past couple months so I didn't really think much of it. When I got home though, my mom had video on of people smashing through the windows of the capital building, and senators having to vacate the building. It was pretty scary, and I couldn't believe how committed so many of the protesters to were to overthrowing the election results. It's crazy to think that some people live in a world where they truly believe that they're doing the right thing by storming the capitol building.
