If a owl becomes scared/ alarmed it will become slim as it tightens the feathers to the body and will stand straight up. However little owls will bob their body's up and down when they are alarmed by something.

Owls tend to hunt away from where they roost.Owls have very good senses which help them hunt for example some owls can hunt in the dark as they have really good night vision.
