As the sport grew in popularity, many countries began to play competitively, so in 1870 the London Swimming Club drafted a set of rules so the game can be played organized.Water Polo was a very rugged and violent sport, that focused on aggressive play to score the goal, many people began to look down on this so a new set of rules were soon developed.
