Idris helped Charlie carry a long stick to the water. Later, B kept pushing the stick to the ocean, and the wave pushed it back to the shore. B struggled with it for a long time. He said, "Teacher, I want it to go further, to the other side." He could not make it then, but I knew he had a lot of fun.

June 4 Emergent educational moment at Fisherman's Wharf Park

Kids are born with curiosity, absorbing teachings from the environment and other people. They visit Fisherman's Wharf Park regularly, but on June 4, something unusual happened.

One of the spring riders was broken; a machinist came over to fix it. They chose to stay, observe, and converse with him instead of free play. They asked many questions, like where the spring rider was from, how the wrenches and other tools were used, how long it would take to fix it, etc. They also learn the rules of observation: hands off when the machinist is working on it; step backward and leave space for others; sit and stand in a circle, without blocking others; ask questions and wait with patience. They had a wonderful time learning with joy and spontaneity.

After I repeatedly rolled from the slope with the kids, they began to play independently. I knew they were relaxed and joyful at those moments; at the same time, rolling stimulated their vestibular system and helped them maintain and control their balance and posture.

They are all around the rocks, and adults like me never bend down to see them and explore them in detail. I got to know a new species with the kids in their cheerful laughter.
