I interviewed a family friend, one who comes from a social working background, about this goal. Regarding the world's current progress towards that goal, she said that the main problems she has encountered are a lack of cohesiveness in social institutions (i.e., the structure of unemployment benefits driving people to actively not search for work because doing so would cut their benefits off before they would start earning enough money to make up for that loss) and an over reliance on old models, theories, and behaviors, ones which may not be the best adapted for the modern world. Her conclusion, "Yes, things are not nearly as bad as they once were, and I do not mean to have a pessimistic point of view, but there is still much to be done. I feel we have made much progress, but we must understand that models adopted from the past are no longer applicable to today’s fluidity," inspired me to choose this picture for my post, a reminder that things are better than they were but still not perfect, that we hold in ourselves the power to change the world, for good - or for ill.

Paul Crow

Free Day Care for Single Parents who Work Full Time

Hi,

I interviewed a co worker of mine and she said something that our community needs it free day care service for single parents who don’t qualify for anything due to barley making the minimum to qualify for any help from the government. Health care and child care are both very expensive and being a single parent with a young child can be hard for a parent who struggles financially. Therefore, it would be nice if there was free day care for single parents or at a low cost to them.

-Julie Tran Nguyen

I interviewed my cousin who is involved in helping the most in need, she team up with a non profit church and 2 times a week they walk the streets giving away cloths and food. She told me that after Covid the amount of people with out a home increase dramatic. Also she mentioned even before Covid it was already a high number of families with out home. What most break my heart is hearing her describing how entire families with minors are living on their cars due to the increase of hight rent before Covid hits. And now we are experience. She mention that the best solution is to used government building who aren't in used and be able to allowed those building to help the most need especially families with our Veterans also families with minors and seniors as a top priority.

I interviewed my friend who is a single parent and working on a doctorate degree in Organic Chemistry. She said her community needs financial support because what they do is very important and can potentially help a lot of people, but that it is tricky for investments since the research often takes so much time and people want quicker returns on their investments.
She said without proper funding, she won't have a job doing research at a university and people in her field won't be able to do their job properly, since it is a very complicated and expensive subject.
The years of training also mean the students need good financial support to study in the first place, so there is also that financial need as well.
