It is important to look at these kinds of behaviors of identifying a gifted student:
-Asks lots of questions, very knowledgeable, and has a good memory. They also get impatient and off task.
-Learns new information quickly, but is easily bored.
-Thinks independently, but challenges authority.
-Makes connections other students don't see, but forgets homework assignments.
-Has a sophisticated sense of humor, but gets carried away with a joke.
-Demonstrated strong, expressive skills, but can come off as a "know it all" by other students.

Independent Projects- Since gifted students usually finish their work faster than others, independent projects might be a good idea. It will help expand their creative minds about the particular topic.
Academic Competition- If you involve your students in academic competition it will teach them academically, leadership, and group dynamics. I think this is a great way to help gifted students.
Vertical Enrichment- Create assignments for you gifted students that goes past what you have already taught them. It can really challenge them as well as expanding their problem solving skills.
Find a Mentor- Find some type of mentor that wants to work with them on a particular interest.
Try a new Approach- Let them figure out certain information on your own instead of just giving it to them.
