Learner analytics is using data to identify patterns and trends of the learners use of the LMS. This data can inform the instructional designer of most effective aspects of the LMS, how the learner uses the LMS, when the learner uses it, under which platform it is accessed, etc. The intention would be to utilize the data for a more effective and engaging learning experience.

When I hear "learner analytics" I think about gaining information about my learners prior to a lesson or module such as learning style preferences, interests, and learning needs. I also think about data collected from a lesson/module about learners' progress.
