Camera:

I messaged my other camera peers and we spoke about what ideas we had for shots lists in the script, from this we discussed our own different visions and started to note down ideas.

Camera:

We discussed which locations the camera would be put in to plan different shots we can experiment with- including different angles e.g when the agents are walking in the hospital to have a (Low angle shot?) to accentuate that sense of power. We then discussed between us camera people- the ideas of the floor diagrams for each scenes and started to plan lighting.

• This week I focused on the scene of when grace is in hospital- I created a mind-map of different shots.

• Planned lighting for this scene too

• Tried to incorporate different shots (Low angle, High angle)

• Moved onto the scene when the agents ask for permission for their boss. i felt this was interesting making a mind-map as it helped my character development too.

To catch up I was sent the floor plans that were made so i have an idea of where the camera would be while filming, and what lighting we would need accordingly.

• We rehearsed lots of shots and experimented with different camera movements.

• Jotting down floor plans advised by our directors, finalising lighting choices, shot sizes and different angles.

• Consolidated my Blackmagic camera knowledge by filming different shots, getting a vision of what the final project would look like.

• Viewed the storyboard from my peers to grasp an idea of the vision.

  
  

• We discussed what equipment we would need for the cameras and made sure this was organised for our first day of filming the day after. Also making sure we had enough batteries for both cameras. (6)

• I created a shot list for scenes 16-23.

• I had my Gimble induction to prepare for filming.

Camera:

• I helped move equipment

• We used cardboard to block out the natural lighting through the windows so it wouldn't affect the shots

• We used mostly the Black magic camera today- mid shots and close ups.

• All equipment was working perfectly.

• I took direction well and was on standby for the change of batteries

• Experimented with the focus pull when switching from Grace's face to the Nurses.

• Tidied away set design when finished filming

• Referred to the shot lists to change lenses

• White balanced the camera.

  
  

I helped my peers when making sure all the batteries were charged and helped them move equipment. I gave a second opinion on my opinion of the shot and ensured the lighting was good for the scene.

Camera:

• When filming outside I made sure none of the public were walking into shot. This was difficult as Bolton town hall was located on a busy road.

• We tested different camera movements e.g a shot from the town hall ceiling, tilted down to Grace walking in and meeting Noah. I found this difficult at first as I was unfamiliar with the focus pull while following movement but learnt from my director (Vedad)

• I took some static shots of the town hall incase the editor wanted some shots of just the surroundings- this included the security cameras and the front of the door.

  I used a mini Sony camera for these.

• I also helped costume look in the local charity shops for last minute bits.

  
  

  
  

This day was majority based around the agents, we filmed in the prison cells, the time travel agency office corridors and time travel agency office. I therefore did not have time to take on the camera role. But assisted moving equipment ect.. when I was free to.

As I had finished my performer role, my sole focus was on camera. We started with Grace arriving home, but we were set back in the morning as our peer was late bringing the camera batteries, nevertheless we got on with as many shots as possible. We ended up having a very productive day and got lots done. We got to know our surroundings more to so we were better prepared for the final day filming. We were aware of the risks filming in a confined space with lots of leads everywhere so we were all very careful when moving camera equipment to different shots.

• Started off with Grace's monologue but had difficulties with her Imac as it broke in the shot, we compensated using small LED lights, which ended up working well. This was a static shot so we just needed to make sure she was always in focus.

• I enjoyed using the RED camera as i got to use the skills i learnt in pre production settings.

• The batteries weren't working well as they were dying very quickly but i took them home the night before and made sure they were all fully charged in the morning.

• We filmed the montages on a 25mm lens as we felt the close ups gave a more dramatic effect, for example the montage of the dripping tap.

• The scene where Grace moves to the bathroom holding a baseball bat- I did a low angle shot of just her feet and then focussing back on her face when she dropped. I really liked this shot.
