This picture depicts the Money Exchange at Ellis Island. This is where the immigrants would go to exchange currency and it was one of the final steps to admission to the United State of America. A large push factor from Ireland prior to the image was that the Irish had just gone through multiple different famines. Many sought for an easier and more reliable life without the potential of not having any food to eat.

This is one of the music sheets of a song called "An Irish Fair Day." It is about an Irish person longing for their place back in Ireland. We can see in the lyrics that the person never really wanted to go to America, it was as if they were forced out: "And I think of the merry old times we would have on a beautiful fair day at home." Since we can assume they were forced out, we can assume that one of the push factors from Ireland was from something big. Possibly a war, or maybe food shortages.

This is a drawing of Irish people emigrating on boats to America. They are all crowded and are wearing rags. The fact that they were all crowding up shows that they were competing for resources, whether it be food, water, or energy. Because of this, one of the pull factors to America would be able to obtain the resources they didn't have.

In Lewis Doyle's Letter Home he speaks of his life in America and about his family. He explains all types of information about his family and some of his day to day life. The large pull factor he speaks of in the letter is of all of the opportunities to support his family such as how he owns 80 acres and 30 acres of them are improved or (farmland). Another pull factor stated was that people were able to make 2-4 dollars a day building railroads.

Irish Immigrants in 1899-1903

This is a report on how many people in different immigrant groups immigrated to America in 1899-1903. Among the biggest influx of them was the Irish. The amount of Immigrants each year from Ireland was about 30,000 for each year. This again proves that something big was happening and Ireland that caused a major push factor from Ireland and a major pull factor to America. The potential push factor from Ireland would be the potato famine which would destroy food supply while people lose their farming jobs. The pull factor to America would be the goods and the jobs that people in America had. It's not that they wanted to, it's that they had to.

The Irish Remedy -- Emigration To America.

This drawing depicts Irish men, women, and children boarding a ship to begin their journey to the United States in 1898. These Irish were rushing to board their ship and leave for their new land. An enormous push factor that Ireland provided was that many of it's citizens lived in poverty. This lead to a struggle to stay alive especially during famine when food prices rise. This allowed for the United States to provide their pull factor of a booming economy with many job opportunities for immigrants.
