I do not think this industry should be regulated. I believe in the freedom of people to buy and sell their purchases on whichever site they wish. I believe this because if it is handed over to some stock market like body, the control shifts from the seller to choose their site of choice.

I absolutely think that sneakers can be an investment, as can most "things", as Josh puts it. I believe that someone can and should be permitted to make a purchase of shoes or other things and sell them for a profit, or if they are unlucky suffer a loss. One can do as much research as they see fit, and although it is not always reliable, it is always a potential for gain.

Is Nike manipulating the market? Yes. Is that unfair? Perhaps, but it could also be interpreted as good strategy, which is what I would choose to identify it as. Sneakers are not a need by any definition of the word. People are not required to buy shoes, let alone build massive collections. It is perfectly permissible for Nike to use the market as a way to make more money; they are a business attempting to make money.

I think that the answer to solving financial illiteracy is the same answer to the question of solving the crime problem among the poor community. The answer, in my opinion, is better education systems and a stronger family unit. A prerequisite to a decent living is knowing you have the ability to pursue one. If you receive a bad education, you will not thrive in a world of competition. Likewise, if you grow up with a broken family unable to support you, you will not have the social and emotional skills necessary to have a good life.
