Going Ice Skating - January

My first time going ice skating was January 18, my birthday. I was excited because I had been wanting to go for so long. I invited three of my best friends. Aubrey, Madeline, and Marley. Maddie, Marley, and I all stayed at my house right after school and we picked up Aubrey afterward. We were all having fun. At first, it was hard but we got the hang of it, except for Maddie. Marley and I were on the whole other side of the rink. We were skating when we heard a loud bang, we looked up and saw Maddie on the floor holding her ankle with Aubery. Marley and I skate over and start asking Maddie if she's okay. She said she heard a crack and couldn't feel her foot. The ambulance came and they took her. She ended up fracturing her ankle in three places and she tore three ligaments. I felt terrible, and to this day she (I think) jokingly says it's my fault. After the ambulance took her Aubrey, Marley and I stayed and ice skated. While ice skating, I rolled my ankle and fell to the floor. It hurt bad. Aubrey and Marley were joking saying "Not another one." Although my ankle was throbbing I still got up and skated for the last two minutes. When I took the ice skate off, my ankle started hurting more. I was limping and when I got in the car I was begging my mom to take me to the hospital. She said she wouldn't take me and that I was fine. We dropped Aubrey and Marley off at home and when we looked at my ankle it was swollen and red. They thought about taking me but they didn't. The next day I could barely walk so I didn't go to school, I was bored in my bed. The day after it felt better so I went to school but I was still limping. Over time it got better and (I think) I'm fine now.

Moving to Diamond Ranch was a huge change for me. I had no idea what to expect. I was scared of not making friends and being a loner. Everything was going to change for me. The school I went to before was small and I knew almost everyone. At Pomona High, everyone knew everyone. I had a lot of friends, but I thought it would be better for me to move because the school wouldn't give me as many opportunities as other schools would. Plus, it was more convenient for me because my cousin was coming here and my tia works at Ranch Hills, therefore it was easier for her to drop my cousin and me off. Although it was scary for me to come here knowing nobody, I made many friends and I don't regret my decision at all. I will say I miss my friends from Pomona, but coming to DR was one of the best decisions I have made for myself. I've met amazing people and I can't believe how many memories I have made and how close I got with these people in such a short amount of time! I feel that the friends I have made have impacted my life in so many ways and I'm forever grateful for them.

Making The Volleyball Team - July

Making the volleyball team was a huge part of my year. I have met amazing people while being in this program, and it's where I made most of my closest friends. At first, I thought there was a big chance that I wouldn't make the team considering I came from a school where sports weren't good. Pomona volleyball wasn't great. I don't think I won any games last year. I will say I learned some things from Pomona, but coming to DR and being in a whole different environment with not only a better team but with better coaches, taught me a lot and I believe that I have improved and I'm better than I was before. The position I play is libero although many people now want to try out for my position. It worries me because it means I have to work 10x harder to keep my position and my spot on the team. It also drives me to be better and not only to prove to myself that I can be great but to also prove to others that I can and will be great. Volleyball is important to me, and I want to play for as long as I can. No matter what team I am on, I want to play the sport that I love. I have no care about what team I'm on. To me, the team doesn't matter, as long as I get to play the sport I love, I'm okay with whatever. I just want to play the game and have the rush feeling when I'm on the court. I've made many fun and amazing memories with my team and I will forever be grateful for the friends I have made.

Going To Get Air With My Friends - September

When I first came to DR everyone was nice and I became close with everyone on the volleyball team. When they added me to a group chat and asked me to go to Get Air with them, it felt good because that meant that they liked me. I was scared though because I thought my dad would say no considering he always says no when I ask to go somewhere with my friends. Surprisingly he didn't though. He let me go with them and I had fun. I hadn't had that much fun in a while. We were playing dodge ball and this little girl kept targeting us and throwing the ball at us hard. We kept trying to throw the ball back, but it would either go the other way or it wasn't as hard as she threw it at us. A lot of us got hit in the head with the ball. We all kept trying to hide behind one another to keep from getting the ball thrown at us. We then went on to the jumpers and we were jumping and then we got tired and sat down inside and talked for a little till' we got out and then jumped on the trampolines. Then, we stole a ball from the dodgeball thing and started playing volleyball with it. But then these little boys kept trying to steal our ball and when they stole it they would run away, but then they gave it back and asked to play with us and we said yeah. We tried ordering Wings Stop but we all wanted different flavors and we weren't agreeing on anything so we didn't end up ordering anything. There was a vending machine with Dip n' Dots so some of us got some but then some of us didn't. We were then gonna go to In n' Out but we didn't end up going there either. When our time was up we went and sat at a table and talked until we got picked up. I had an amazing time with them and I'm very happy that they decided to invite me. The whole day reminded me of one of those nostalgic songs when teenagers are going out and having fun. I would give an example but I can't think of a song right now.

Getting The Book "Nothing Like The Movies" - October

Getting this book was probably the highlight of my whole year. I read the first book and fell absolutely in love with the book. The first book is called Better Than The Movies and it was amazing. It is my favorite book. Nothing can and ever will top it. The whole book was amazing, from the characters to the teen romance to the story. Everything was so so good. When I heard about the sequel I NEEDED to get the book right away. But..... I couldn't. I never had time to go to the store or to Barnes n' Noble and get the book. And when I did have time, my mom just didn't want to take me. I didn't want to read any other book until I read Nothing Like The Movies. Better Than The Movies is a enemies to lovers trope and that's my favorite. Wes teases Liz all the time and she hates it but he loves it. She thinks he hates her but in reality, he doesn't. her childhood crush moved back into town and Wes and him are best friends. Liz asks Wes for help because she wants to date him. So they fake date hoping to get closer to her childhood crush. Or do I think it was to get him jealous? I'm low-key, not sure, (It's my favorite book I promise) but Liz realizes Wes isn't as annoying as she thought he was. And then they fall in love blah blah. There's this one part of the book when I think Wes's mom tells Liz that when Wes and Liz were little, Wes used to sit on the back porch and listen to Liz play piano. And he'd sit there for hours just listening and listening. I loved that part. When I got Nothing Like The Movies I was so excited and I went straight into reading it. I didn't get this cover though I got the orange one. It's the same cover just a different color. I could have got the purple one but I liked the orange one better. Nothing Like The Movies was amazing though. If I were to ever recommend a book I would recommend Better Than The Movies.
