The reason I chose this video is because every successful person we have discussed, rich or poor, was  leader. MLK JR., Gandhi, Steve Jobs. Nobody worked for anyone else but themselves. From poems to novels, we analyzed every piece of text we got. Yet for some reason, the one that stuck out the most was the poem "Richard Cory" by Edwin Arlington Robinson. In the first three stanzas of the poem, the writer describes Richard Cory's life and personality. The stanzas explain how he had everything and how everyone wanted to be him. The fourth and final stanza showed the audience that though Richard Cory had everything, he wasn't happy. As you can see in the image below, the last sans states that as the people on the pavements worked, Richard Cory suicided and everyones life goal wa to be him before that incident. This poem supports my definition of success because it shows that even though the outside world was happy with his achievements, he wasn't. This is because the main character in this short story, Charlie Gordon, is insecure about his intelligence and volunteers to be part of an experiment that goes south. I can back this up because in the story he says, "It's because I'm dumb," and other stuff like "I can't wait to get smarter." This supports my idea of success because Charlie didn't accept himself and like himself, and so he his life changed forever and not for the better. He was no longer oblivious to the cruelty of his "friends," and he was no longer happy. Charlie gained intelligence but lost soon after and though in the end he was accepting of his fate, he had to go through a lot. I chose this article because in it Kayla states that she is persistent to overcome her disability and isn't shy about it. This supports my definition of success because  Kayla is successful due to the fact that she didn't shy away from the public eye because of her disability. She was happy with herself and confident enough to  go out and try to make her dream tangible. Kayla turned the impossible possible, and this was only due to the fact that she didn't listen to others who told her she couldn't. The reason I chose this song is because I believe it perfectly displays the way a person feels when insecure. In the song Tyler, the singer, describes the thought process of someone who is insecure and has to hide his true emotions with the line, "Am I the only one I know, waging my wars behind my face and above my throat? Shadows will scream that I'm alone." This line is talking about how he has to pretend to be happy when in reality he is internally fighting himself because he doesn't feel like he is good enough.
