To maintain a basic level of health, the Government’s recommendation as outlined by the Department of Health states children and young people aged 5 to 18 need to do at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day. This should range from moderate activity such as playground games to vigorous activity such as running and dancing.

The Playtime Party has been created to address this new recommendation and helps schools to engage less active children during break times.

Playtime Party thrives on it’s sustainability in school through the trained Playtime Party Leaders who will be able to lead safe and enjoyable dance activities during school break times and events.

Playtime Party Leaders are trained to:
  • develop their own personal leadership skills
  • plan and lead dance movement sessions
  • assist in planning and leading a dance activity event
  • identify appropriate music to use
  • create simple dance routines for all
  • encourage others to become more physically active during break times

Playtime Party meets the Government’s Physical Literacy framework that enables:
  • Physical Development - focus on body action to develop skill and stamina
  • Knowledge and Understanding - pupils learn through doing, feeling and experiencing
  • Enjoyment - dance is sociable so is fun
  • Confidence and Self Esteem - releases inhibitions and provides a feeling of well-being
  • Social Development - dance encourages co-operative social relationships
  • Creativity - perform and express original body movements
  • Expression and Communication - express emotions through movement.
