The Cerebrotech Visor™ System is a cutting edge, portable, non-invasive, wireless device that allows for early stroke detection, leading to less brain damage and more rapid intervention (Cleveland Clinic, 2018). This device uses volumetric impedance phase-shift spectroscopy (VIPS™) technology to assess cerebral fluid in the brain for patients experiencing neurological conditions resembling stroke (Hastings, 2018). The visor uses low power electromagnetic waves to detect pathologies and asymmetry of cerebral fluid between the cerebral hemispheres. The Cerebrotech Visor™ received FDA approval in January 2018. This innovative technology can diagnose a stroke within 30 seconds and has demonstrated 92% accuracy in stroke detection (Cerebrotech Medical Systems, 2019). This percentage is an improvement compared to the 40-89% accuracy from standard physical neurological assessment. The device is recommended for paramedics and clinicians (Hastings, 2018).

The Cerebrotech Visor™ is a life-changing innovation for stroke patients. This new diagnostic tool, approved by the FDA, allows for minimizing delays in diagnosis and intervention, thus improving patient outcomes (Cerebrotech Medical Systems, 2019). Due to current lack of diagnostic tools within hospitals, patients are experiencing delayed diagnosis and treatment up to 110 minutes as they are in transit to another facility that possesses the needed diagnostic tools. The current tools used are non-portable, unlike the Cerebrotech Visor™. As stated by Kellner et al. (2018), there is a 20% decrease in the chances of a positive patient outcome for every hour delayed in receiving treatment. This device has been proven to be effective, efficient, reduce costs, and improve patient outcomes. Clearly, with this new technology, patients can receive risk-free assessment that results in early intervention. In addition, the visor reduces risk for human error and requires minimal training (Hastings, 2018). This new creation is a must in the healthcare industry.
