Morning Procedure

The procedure for morning arrival helps my students stick to a routine. It is the same every morning even if I have a substitute. The students already know what is expected of them and what we will be doing upon the bus' arrival.

How we get ready to start our school day.

I will get off the bus using safe feet.

I will quietly wait by the gate while all my friends get off the bus.

I will place my backpack on the cart. (We take a black rolling cart outside with us since our bus drop-off is not near our classroom).

I will line up on my red dot and wait patiently while my teacher unlocks the gate.

I will walk to the cafeteria following the lined path.

The procedure for the afternoon also remains the same. Consistency helps my students establish a routine where they are aware of what they will be doing. They know as soon as we start this routine that our school day is almost over.

End of Day

I will do my living skills job.

I will patiently wait for my turn to get my backpack out of my cubby.

I will quietly wait on my red dot while my friends get their belongings.

When my teacher opens the door, I will use safe hands and feet to follow the line to the bus pick-up.

I will wait my turn to get on the bus.
