Xcel Energy has no competition so they can set the prices based on what they want to sell their product for.
They can drive out any businesses that try to compete with them because they can provide their energy for the lowest cost.
It would be hard for another company to compete with them because of how difficult it is to enter their product market.
Disadvantages:
The Sherman anti trust act makes it difficult for them to expand as a company because monopolies are illegal.
