War effects poverty because "Two civil wars in the last 30 years have left the country with inadequate roads, water and other basic infrastructure which has proving a significant barrier for economic growth." War is leaving Liberia with rigid, rocky roads, little to no water and food(basic needs) and little to no basic infrastructure as well.

Lacking in these two essentials effects poverty because it leads to "high fatality rate among those with treatable or preventable diseases. Only half of Liberians are literate and many children are kept out of school in order to help their family farms." This leads back to Poverty because they are losing those basic needs that they need to obtain in order to live a long, happy life.

This effects poverty because "Many Liberia children don't have access to a sufficient and balanced diet. Only one in four has access to drinking water, 40% suffer from malnutrition and one in five is undernourished." This leads back to Poverty because Liberians aren't meeting their basic needs such as water and food so therefor they are becoming ill.

More than 83% of Liberians live on less than US $1.25 a day. This means many Liberians cannot afford food, water, housing, education etc. This leads back to Poverty because if individuals cannot afford these things, they are losing their basic needs in order to survive.

Oxfam International is in more than 90 countries with programs in Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, across Asia and in parts of Eastern Europe as well. Oxfam International is working in Liberia delivering emergency humanitarian assistance and long term development projects. They focus on enhancing the ability of Liberia's government to manage its public health systems and promote hygiene awareness at a local and national level. Oxfam International is important because they work "to find practical, innovative ways for people to lift themselves out of poverty and thrive. They save lives and help rebuild livelihoods when crisis strikes. To start job growth, the government should invest in our infrastructure by rebuilding roads, railways, schools etc. expanding jobs and energy sources. This would help by getting more people employed so they can get enough money to take care and provide for themselves.
