We are not the only ones who effect our self image, "media does indeed contribute and that exposure to and pressure exerted by media increase body dissatisfaction and disordered eating," (3). Magazines, t.v, books, ads, etc., all have negative impacts on people's self image. To change your self image for the better, try to increase you will power. An example of this is saying, "I WILL spend less and less time in front of mirrors—especially when they are making me feel uncomfortable and self-conscious about my body," (3). Making changes in your daily life such as how you think and what you say will benefit you. Another way to improve is by making list, "list 5 to 10 good qualities that I have, such as understanding,
intelligence, or creativity. I will repeat these to myself
whenever I start to feel bad about my body," (4).

One of my close friends use to suffer from depression because of the views she had of herself. She actually did make a list of things she liked about herself and looked at it everyday. She also started exercising regularly. She started focusing on her good personality traits and all the good/nice things she ha done for people. After a while her depression lessened and she much happier now!
