On the morning of Wednesday, 6th August 2025, Ghana was struck by an unspeakable tragedy. A military helicopter carrying eight dedicated public servants men who had given their lives to the service of our nation went down, claiming the lives of all on board.

Today, on behalf of the West African Youth Alliance, I stand in solemn remembrance of our fallen patriots and heroes of our nation.

They were fathers, brothers, mentors, colleagues, and leaders. They were patriots who answered the call to serve with dedication, courage, and integrity. Their tragic passing is a loss not only to their families but to the whole nation and to the cause of public service.

In this moment of grief, we extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families, to His Excellency the President of the Republic, and to the people of Ghana. We mourn with you, we stand with you, and we share in your sorrow.

We commend the Government of Ghana for swiftly establishing a Board of Inquiry to investigate the cause of this tragic accident. Such action is vital to ensuring lessons are learned and future occurrences are prevented.

But beyond investigation, it is our collective duty to ensure that these fallen national heroes are honored appropriately in deeds as well as in words. Let their memory inspire us to serve with the same commitment, to lead with the same sense of responsibility, and to put the interest of Ghana above all else.

On behalf of the youth of West Africa, I say: may your legacy live on in the hearts of those you inspired, and may your service continue to light the path for generations to come.

Rest in perfect peace, gallant sons of Ghana.

Hero's have fallen and left a vacuum. All the eight Hero's have dedicated and works selflessness for the nation. They went for a mission on Galamsey and that black Wednesday 6th August 2025 the helicopter crashed killing the eight Hero's.

Ghanains are in pain and sorrows. We will foever remember you in prayers. What all of you need now is prayers. May Allhah grant our Fallen Hero's Jannatul firdews.

When I got the information, I thought it was one of those false information, but as I scrolled up, it kept coming. Immediately, I turned off my phone data and switched on the television, and all for me to hear is a breaking news from the Hon. Julius Debrah. Since then, I have never been myself, I find it difficult to take my breakfast as i watch 8 souls burnt to ashes for my sake, I always feel sory for sending them on that day, and i keep asking God why?

Honouring the eight brave individuals who lost their lives in the helicopter crash is a somber task, but it's essential to remember their sacrifice and bravery.

I write today to pay my respect to eight gallant individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Their bravery and selflessness will never be forgotten, and their legacy will live on in my heart.

Their dedication to serving our nation was unwavering, and their commitment to protecting our water bodies was unshakeable. Though their time with us was short, their impact will be felt for generations to come.

They faced danger head-on, never faltering in their duty.

They put the needs of others before their own, giving their lives in service to our nation.

Their memory will inspire us to strive for a better world.

It is with deep sorrow, heartfelt sympathy, and profound Christian compassion that the Ghana National Catholic Youth Council (GHANCYC) has received the devastating news of the tragic military helicopter crash at Asikaman near Akrofuom, which claimed the lives of eight distinguished and patriotic sons of our beloved nation namely: Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Mr. Samuel Aboagye, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo.

On behalf of Catholic Youth across all Archdioceses and Dioceses in Ghana, we extend our deepest condolences to His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana, to the bereaved families, to the institutions and communities these gallant men so faithfully served, and to the entire citizenry of Ghana, who are united in grief at this painful moment in our national life.
