This is inspired by the concept of different vessels of water, one being our human body and the other being something that holds it, and how similar and connected we are. I would like this task to open up questions about:

1) What happens to your perception of self when considering the relation to watery worlds?

a. Senses to consider:

                                                                                          ii. Size

                                                                                       iii. Distance

                                                                                       iv. Movement

2) How much does this task enable us to “attune ourselves to our than human-than-humanness”?

Reference:

Neimanis, A.

Firstly, please take absolute care in and around water, and make sure that you always keep yourself safe and make sure you have towels and a warm comfortable place to end the session. Remember - you are free to choose the degree of involvement and size of the task you wish to embark on, such as time and how wet you want to get! Stop whenever feels fits you, as any reflections would be valuable of your experience.

When you are ready, here are the instructions of the practical task:

What you will need –

· A clean body of water, e.g. bowl, bucket, bath, pool, stream, sea…you choose!

· Suitable clothing and towels.

· Paper and writing material

What to do –

1) Comfortable position yourself beside the water in a way that fits how you feel at this moment.

2) If safe to do so, close your eyes, or soften your gaze to bring attention to watery areas in your face:

a. Eyes, Nose, Mouth, sweat on the skin?

b. Consider 1 -2 of these areas and consider:
When are these flowing with more liquid?
How much volume?

Where does it travel to?
What shape is it when it moves?

3) Visualise the liquid absorbing into the bloodstream and follow your bloods journey around you – acknowledge the litres of liquid coursing around you.

4) Take 3+ breaths to sit and acknowledge how you are a body of liquid.

5) Turn your attention to the watery body beside you.

a. What shape is it?

c. Where are its borders?

d. How does it move?

6) Make contact with the water with any body part as much as you want.

a. Does this change its shape?

b. How does it move against your own borders?

7) Explore and play with moving in and out of the water, considering these 2 points.

8) Finally, imagine you are 1 vessel, how can you be as 1?

9) Exit the water and get warm.

Reflections: What stood out for you? What discoveries or re-discoveries did you encounter about yourself when considering yourself as liquid?

some responses...

Liked moving from skin to inside, to consider the eyeball, to feel the exchange of air and moisture in the nose, saliva...a grounding process as well as more aware of my watery nature.

The shape of he droplet on the leaf, like a gem or a diamond glistening and shimmering, delicate to approach it. It had its own edges it seemed.

The film of the surface tension, I was aware of a boundary place of touch of not breaking the surface almost bouncing off it with my finger, touching the surface and the balance and poise of the water resting on the leaf and wobbling. Then the intense sensation of coolness as my finger broke the surface and I wondered about where the coolness lies...is it in my feeling or is that drop coolness, who holds the coolness. The coolness overlaps both of us. When i lift my finger away the surface reforms again as if i'd never been there, sealed up not cut by my intrusion apart from the other drop that was disturbed and ran to join it.

Perhaps the water goes on your body, in your body, your body and it touch perhaps not just with the hands, perhaps the melted water goes on to water something else or join with something else. See what happens and how you experience this care.
