INTRODUCTION

Hiii, my name is Huo Yanfei, and I go by Fay.

I am an international student from Guangdong, China. One year ago, I completed my undergraduate study and my major is cultural industry management. The learning contents of different universities may be different and we focus on learning the management knowledge of theaters and cinemas.

My undergraduate course is not related to museum studies, so I chose to be a volunteer and applied for an internship in the museum. I introduced the history of my hometown city and museum to visitors as an interpreter during my internship, and also recorded various details of the collections as a collection manager. After graduation, I worked in Dialect Museum, mainly to popularize Cantonese knowledge to children, and also held some activities to call on people to pay attention to the inheritance of dialects.

I like to travel sooo much. I hope I can use my spare time to visit cultural heritage sites and museums in other British cities. My recent hobby is shopping in the supermarket :)

I am really looking forward to the study and field trips and nice to meet you all!

DODO SKELETON

The dodo was a large flightless bird and it had a very recognizable big mouth. It was first discovered in Mauritius in 1598 and became extinct by 1690. This dodo skeleton at Museum of Zoology is one of the most complete dodo skeletons in the world, but it is made up of bones from many different dodos. The dodo had no natural enemies, but it became extinct due to overhunting.

The dodo just disappeared in the Muggle world, but it is said to still exist in the world because the Muggles do not understand the ability of the dodo to disappear quickly, they mistakenly believe that it is extinct. The International confederation of Wizards hopes that it will become a warning, Muggles need to learn how to get along with animals in nature correctly, and don't think there is anything wrong with the fact that Muggles don't know the truth.....In fact, this is a joke, if humans continue to overkill other animals, then humans will be doomed.

What are the aims of the exhibit (are these clearly stated?).
I didn't pay attention

What is the material construction of the exhibit (Objects? Text? Videos? Interactives?).
-objects(mainly), lots of animal specimens, kids can get up close and personal with animals they don't see often, even if it's just a taxidermy.
-text, booklet to introduce the animals
-sounds, press the button to hear the introductory audio
-videos, in the centre of the exhibition there are three display screens, playing videos at the same time
-interactives, with a microscope, you can see the texture structure of snake skin, and you can also see small butterflies; small windows on the fake tree that can be opened manually to see various small creatures

Who is the intended audience?
family and kids (the exhibition has two small channels for children to crawl)

What messages does the exhibit communicate?
Information about animals on different continents, extinct and endangered animals, biodiversity, the 5 extinctions, food chains...
The impact of human activities on living things and the environment in which they live....

What is your impression of the exhibition? Did it inspire you?
Good, but the whole exhibition is old, I think they need to be updated something, such as the broken brochures. To some extent, for children, it is an experience of reconnecting with nature, because there are many decorations in the exhibition, like the trees, leaves in the jungle.
I would think of some animals I have seen when I travelled and I remember the videos I have seen, it is about the Namibian rescue team, and their duty is to free sea lions entangled in plastic and rope

What actions might you take (if any) as a result of seeing this exhibition?

Watch some nature documentaries first,
Throw the used batteries into the battery recycling place in the store room

The Lost Rhino

I enjoyed the exhibit, the book with engravings of the rhino, then the digital reproduction of the northern white rhino, and finally seeing a rhino specimen.
This poster is also very interesting in design, I like it very much.

I am very sad that human is about to witness the extinction of a species, even if it is not actually extinct now, but it is functionally extinct. It is like a patient who is unable to move and knows that he has only a few days left. He does everything not.
Especially when I saw the digital rhino, she was pacing in a limited room, and I seemed to feel her feeling of loneliness and helplessness through the screen.

Probably not, the only thing I take action is to wish the earth to be destroyed as soon as possible.

The Darwin Centre
I don't know the aims of the exhibition, I don't know if it is clearly stated because I don't seem to have seen the entire exhibition.

Text (introducing investigation pollution), video (two videos), interactive (there are buttons for interaction, that is, which button you press to see the introduction of which bee)

I don't know, maybe insect lovers and children (the garden bumblebee is fat and cute)

informative?
