The type of element that i chose to analyze about are the characters who i will be speaking about are Jane and the husband John. Will be speaking about how the wife was falling into depression which is a medical condition that was being neglected by her husband who is a doctor. For example, "Temporary nervous depression - a slight hysterical tendency - what is one to do?". The lack of attention and needs that she should of received from her husband when she kept mentioning to John that she wanted to leave the house. Lastly the obsession she started to develop for the yellow wallpaper that was caused by her being locked up and imagining the wallpaper move by a woman behind the wallpaper.

What's been discovered is that during the 1800's woman were not taken seriously at the time. They were neglected of their needs and put aside and were to listen what the man has to say in the household. Woman only had one role in the early 1800's and that was be a house wife. The connection between the short story and the real life of back in the early years of woman gives an idea of what the author lived during her time when she wrote the story. Given a bigger understanding what women went through such as neglecting them, given such a low role in the household.
