As of today, you have displayed consecutive failing grades in Listening tests in this short program. In class, you frequently miss the details. For example, when I asked you follow-up questions, I found that you didn’t understand key vocabulary in the passages. That’s why you may get the main idea but end up misinterpreting the details that support the main idea. You are not able to infer the tone or underlying meanings either. This is very concerning to me that you don’t have much time to catch up with the course or prepare for DLPT--after two weeks. In order to improve your Listening, you must do your homework and always try to do more.

I believe that you are a tactile and a visual learner, you noticed that you like to take notes and rewrite vocabulary items. So, when you study vocabulary, put the words in sentences that you would remember. It will be easier for you later to remember them in context than to remember them in isolation. You may also use Quizlet to review basic vocabulary. Below are some other things to do to improve your listening, reading, and speaking

Review basic grammar structures

Try to build schemata of a topic that you are studying as a learning strategy by reviewing relevant vocabulary items and developing back of vocabulary items

Listen to authentic materials

Listen to news items and build a list of topic-specific vocabulary items

As I see that you are a strong level 1+ listener, but it will take you some time to move to level 2 if you don’t do the above.
