The 2nd tallest NBA player ever; Manute Bol, was born and raised in South Sudan. In Arabic Sudan means black, like the color on their flag, also it represents the nationalist who fought against coloniels. South Sudan is home to and abundance of natural reserves, and outdoor activities. Before South Sudan and Sudan split Sudan was the largest country in Africa.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In the early 1800s Egypt conquered parts of South Sudan(what was at the time Sudan), for ivory and slave trades. In the late 1800s the British and Egyptians agreed on a joint government over Sudan. Then in 1930 the north and south parts of Sudan were separated in government because of their beliefs. Then in 1956 Sudan became an independent country with it's own government. In the late 1900s a civil war led to the splitting of the country into South Sudan and Sudan.</div>]]></description>

The most important waterway in South Sudan is the White Nile, which passes right through the middle of the country. South Sudan is land-locked. The Sudd swamp is the major swamp in South Sudan caused by the White Nile, it is one of the world's largest wetlands.</div>]]></description>

The president leads an executive branch that is separate from the legislative branch. The current president of South Sudan is Salva Kiir Mayardit. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The most popular religion in South Sudan is Roman Catholic Christians, about 37% of the population or 6 million people follow this reigion.  They stil respect freedom of religion though. The religion spread throughout the country through the missionaries from Rome. They built hospitals, schools, and fixed homes.</div>]]></description>
