One way the author used it in the book was when he was when he tells how Hannah asks towards her friends and family and how she handles and reacts to things. To show this, the author uses description. For example, the author shows the transaction from her in the beginning to end, and how she gets more depressed and sad. An example from the book, the author shows Hannah from the beginning of the tapes, "Hello, boys and girls. Hannah Baker here. Alex was one of Hannah’s “friends”. They would hang out at Monet’s coffee shop and talk for hours until he stopped coming and started dating her “friend” Jessica who would also hang out with them. Alex also made a hot or not list and passed it around school with it saying Hannah has the best ass, which made everyone start looking at her and touch her. Some stereotypes in the book are Justin ,Courtney and Jessica. Justin can come of as a stereotype, as being the really cute boy in school that every girl likes and wants to date. Courtney can come of as a stereotype, as the prettiest girl in school, the girl everyone wanted to be friends with, the girl everyone wants to be seen around with, and Jessica, a pretty cheerleader. A girl that hangs out with all the jocks and started dating Justin ..An example for the book, Hannah talks about Courtney being so perfect. “Courtney Crimsen. The name sounds almost sounds too perfect. This symbolizes where all the characters in Hannah’s story collides and where it drives Hannah to suicide. Another symbol is Tyler’s photograph. This symbolizes when Hannah finds out that her and Courtney’s friend relationship was fake and that Courtney’s really just using her. An example from the book, “If you have seen those pictures, lucky you. I’m sure they’re very sexy. But as you now know, they’re also very posed. Posed. Some of the craft techniques that the author uses is writing with many details, showing not telling. Using sensory details, it helps the readers feel, hear, smell, and taste things. Dialogue, this makes it more interesting. Also the choice of words that the author uses. In the book Thirteen Reasons Why, the author uses all these techniques. The author uses lots of details, and tries to show what’s happening and how people are feeling. Some ways the author uses it, is when the characters describe where they are, like from out of the book, Hannah describes Tyler’s house. “The hallway lights are on so I can see in pretty well.
