         <description><![CDATA[<div>Krashen:<br>-1970s: dissatisfied with Behaviorism&nbsp;<br>-Developed a model based on Chomskys theory: Monitor Model<br><br>Monitor Model:<br>Based on 5 hypotheses<br>1) acquisition/learning: acquire through exposure naturally (acquired passively through intelligible input) and is used through spontaneous language; learn through instruction in order to perfect and monitor language<br>2) monitor: used acquired language to communicate; speech is monitored using learned rules if time permits (monitoring polishes speech)<br>3) natural order: second language acquisition happens in a predictable sequence; languages easiest to state are not necessarily first to be acquired<br>4) comprehensible input: i +1 (i: language already acquired; +1: what is learned beyond acquired language)<br>5) affective filter: feelings such as anxiety or negative attitudes leads a learner to filter out input</div>]]></description>
