Gabe Ugliano/ Smelly Gabe

Gabe is very lazy and likes to play poker and gamble with his friends. He has a very mean personality. He demands everything, he tells everybody to do everything for him. Percy also thinks that Gabe is very smelly and stinks.

The Myth/legend that I am doing is The Fates.

From Percy's point of view in the story, it looks like 3 old ladies are knitting on their porch. He enjoyed seeing the old ladies knitting so he decided to join in with them.

According to Greek Mythology, these ladies determine length of human life. The first lady spun a cloth, the second lady measures how long the cloth was indicating how long the person would live. Then after all of that, when the person's life is over then the last lady cuts a thread that would indicate the end of person's life.

This Myth/Legend is called the Minotaur.

From the story, this is a 7 foot demon looking person that was trying to kill Percy or anybody in its way. Percy was very terrified for it because killed his mom right in front of him and he was trying to hide so that he didn't get killed.

The Minotaur is a Greek Myth that is believed to have the body of a normal human but the head of a bull.The reason that he has a human body and bull head is because his parents were Pasiphae and Cretan. It used to live in the labyrinth of Crete where they offered a regular sacrifice to youths and maidens.

Brazier

"A central fire burned in a bronze brazier the size of a bathtub."

From the quote, I think that brazier means a bowl or pan.

A pan or wires that are used for holding burning coals.

Luke

"This is Luke," Annabeth said, and her voice sounded different somehow."

(Riordan pg 84)

From the book, Luke is a very nice and kind person. He also has very good leadership skills and guiding everybody to what they need to do and also in capturing the flag.

Thwacking

"There was a cascade of thwacking sounds."

(Riordan pg.124)

From this quote, I think that thwacking means disturbing.

To strike with or as if with something flat or heavy.

The Greek Myth/Legend I am doing is Poseidon

In the story, Percy found out that Poseidon was his father at Camp Half Blood and Percy found out who his father was.

Poseidon was the god of the sea and was one of the 12 children to have a titan named Kronos as their dad. He was also one of the three sons that fought against Kronos for eating his other children. Poseidon also has a Trident that was fashioned by the three Cyclopes.

This Greek Myth/Legend is a Cerberus

From the book, the Cerberus is a monster that was summoned by Hades and tried to kill Percy at Camp Half Blood. They are also very strong and dangerous if you encounter a Cerberus.

The Cerberus is the guard and protector of the Underworld. It was created when three snake heads shaped as demons came out of the head and the tail of the serpent. It also killed anybody that tried to enter and exit the Underworld. The Cerberus's are also called a Hellhound most of the time

Spirit Of Delhi

"I am the spirit of Delpi, speaker of the prophecies of Phoebus Apollo."

From the book, The Spirit of Delpi was a spirit that creeped Percy out when he was trying to find the lightning bolt of Zues. He also lived in the attic as well and was a very creepy spirit and also probably hated Percy.

My Greek Myth/Legend is Medusa.

In the story, Medusa was a lady that tried to kill Percy and his other friends since she was trying to stop them from getting to the Underworld. She was also Ms. Em

Medusa is considered a gorgon and also, her hair was made of snakes. Back then, she was so ugly and her snake hair was so hideous that it even turned people into stone when people looked up at her. She was also one of the three gorgon sisters with Euryale and Stheno.

Aunty Em

"You must come in, poor children. I am Aunty Em."

In the book, Aunty Em is a very nice old lady that feeds and takes care of Percy and his friends that she assumed were orphans. Then, she turned into Medusa and tried to kill them but she died by Percy's sword.

Metallic

"My sword made a metallic blur in my hands."

From the quote, I think metallic means weird.

Made of or containing a metal.

This Greek Myth/Legend is called Zephyr.

From the book, Zephyr is the person who actually carried down Percy from Olympus.

Zephyr was the god of the west wind, one of the four seasonal wind gods. He was a rival with Apollon for the love of Hyakinthos.He was also the god of spring.

Jarred

"That jarred her.Her vision cleared."

From the quote I think jarred means making somebody shocked.

Zebra

The zebra was an animal that was about to go to some sort of cursed circus to be a circus animal but didn't want to go become a circus animal.Percy had to save him before it was gonna be in the circus.

My Myth/Legend is Arachane

In the story, Arachane is a half spider and half human they talk about when going to the underworld.

She was a Lydian maiden, daughter of Idmon of Colophon, who was a famous dyer in purple. She also lived in Kolopon.The goddess was enraged at her impiety and beat the girl with a shuttle, driving Arakhe to hang herself in despair.

My Greek Myth/Legend is Orpheus

From the book, Orpheus was one of the gods that Percy named when naming very powerful gods and goddesses when he was jealous of them.

Orpheus was a musician, poet and prophet in Greek mythology. When Orpheus grew older he was very gifted because he was very good with his music ability and his voice. Everyone who heard him play or sing fell instantly in love with him

My Myth/LEgend is the golden fleece

This Myth/legend was refered when PErcy was watching a TV show and saw an object so shiny that he refered to the Golden Fleece.

The fleece of the mythological ram in Greek myth, the goal of Jason and the Argonauts. IT is very shiny and is very gold in color.Some historians suggest the fleece was a real method of gold collection

Trundled

"The train trundled west as darkness fell"

From the quote, I think this word means moved.

Move or cause to move slowly and heavily.

John

From the book, John is a news reporter that works at Channel Five, the news channel and reporting about the mystery of where Percy is.

My myth/legend is called cyclops

In the book, cyclops is one of the many gods Percy was naming and was jealous of.

Cyclops is a one eyed giant appearing in many forms and ways. Any of several one-eyed giants to whom were ascribed a variety of histories and deeds and he was one of them. Some legends say that some of the walls of ancient Greece were build by Cyclops himself.
