Dutch artist who is among one of the most influential and respected figures in the history of Western Art. Van Gogh was born 30th March 1853, and died on the 29th of July 1890. Van Gogh had a passion for literature as he was a fan of Charles Dickens. It was in 1886 Van Gogh? Started exploring deeper into impressionism and post-impressionism. He looked at other artists like Monet, Bernard and Pissaro. After taking in their techniques he started experimenting within his style using brighter and more vibrant colours.

Van Gogh went through many art movements. The exhibition will be held at The Australian National Botanic Gardens. The garden's atmosphere complements  the natural scenery in his paintings, blending in with his earthy colour schemes, such as in Irises and Almond Blossoms. And yet the Botanic Gardens can still give you a pensive vibe, which relates to his paintings like Sorrow and At Eternity's Gate. 

It will be held outdoors with all the paintings will be propped up on the ground, to show the more earthy side of his paintings. There will be soft calm music in the background to show a calming sense of communication.

As a young artist Vincent admired the works of many artists, one among those being Rembrandt. Rembrandt wasa Dutch draughtsman, painter and print maker.

Well before his trip to Paris, Van Gogh admired the work of Eugene  Delacroix, he especially liked the deceptive vibrancy in his artworks. It is an oil on canvas Painting and was made in May 1890. The dimensions of the canvas used were 80 x 64 cm. The dimensions of the canvas I have used are  80 x 40 cm. The artwork makes me feel sad and unhappy. It gives us a small insight to this persons life, but in a way that makes me feel as if it is a private thing. It makes me feel sad and unhappy. With themed colours making the colour pallet earthy and in the past, the furniture and background gives it an old fashioned look.  The artwork is very sad Because someone is crying or very depressed, because of something that's going on in their life. It gives off a sorrowful vibe. It's powerful because it makes you feel a certain emotion, and helps capture what this person is going through in their life, so that you can almost relate to it. You can see things like the change of shade in the outlines and the texture of splintered wooden planks. You can see a fire illuminating the entire room and making it slightly less sad than the person is. Van Gogh has continued to have his earthy colour schemes with his browns, oranges, yellows and some light skin toned colours. This is a portrait of an old man who was a war veteran. He has come back from it dead inside, sad and depressed. 

I first saw his hands they are in the top middle of the page. They are duller and more sad and gloomy than all the other blue that surrounds it, it made my eyes look to that spot. Having a massive blue chunk and then this light toned and more gloomy feel of a colour didn't blend in for my eyes.
 I would say that in this portrait line is the most important art element because without the organic and straight lines in this piece like in the chair, and fire and the actual person it wouldn't have as much of a sorrowful and sad feel. He took other peoples views into his own and turns them into something beautiful. He has incorporated maths and physics into his art which i think is very special and rare. He has had an amazing life through the ups and downs, like when he lost his ear. He showed resilience and now he is one of the most famous artists in history. One of his most famous artworks is Starry Night. Its amazing how the inspiration for an artwork could be so small and yet so influential. Starry Night was created off what he could see at sunset from his asylum room.
