When we get older and close to not using technology, reading maps skills is our go to GPS.
We learn about farming to appreciate and value of how our everyday food is created. Farming is important because we need to learn of how our food is created with so much much effort, and when there is a day where you have to take care of yourself or other people around you, knowledge of this will be useful. Imagine if there was a zombie apocalypse day, and you have to survive on your own. Also if we were lost in middle of nowhere and the GPS has no signal it will be easy to find our destination.

We study farming because we eat our food without what the process were but if we know how they farm and all the history  of farming eating will become more interesting. We have to know and understand it.

For example if you're in the middle of nowhere with your GPS broken how are you going to get out and find your way? You could easily just navigate our way around. You would navigate by knowing all of the map elements and how to use it.

We study farming so we could understand about where our food comes from and how it is produced. We could have a stronger understanding. Also, farming could be a useful life skill when you're older. You could  be planting or even raising livestock. It's also interesting to learn about the history of farming.
