         <description><![CDATA[<div>The island was passed as a French colony to a British Colony before becoming independent with Canada in 1867. It went through numerous name changes, from <em>Île Saint-Jean, to </em>Saint John’s Island, to finally being renamed Prince Edward Island. There are many Scottish, English and French descendants on the island today.</div>]]></description>
