My name is Hazar Shehadeh, and it is my pleasure to be your instructor in this class.

I have a BA in English literature and English as a second language, MA in English with a minor in film criticism, and PhD in linguistics. 
I have been teaching for over 11 years; I have taught different face-to-face, hybrid, & online classes ranging from writing skills, composition, rhetoric, film criticism, to literature. 
 
  

I had reviewed and developed curricula and worked in different research studies to accelerate under-prepared and at-risk students’ learning at the college level.  I have been working on different research studies about the teaching strategies and using technology in the classroom to enhance minority group students' performance.  


I have published a few articles and participated in different conferences in Spain, Canada, and Greece. 


I live with my husband and our 2 kids and dog in Houston.  I enjoy working out, running, and cooking. I like to read recent educational research and enjoy scholarly, scientific writing. I also like to travel to different places with my family!


I'm looking forward to meeting all of you and getting to know you better as the class progresses.

My name is Hannah Eley, but soon will be Hannah Rodriguez because I am changing my last name to have it be the same as my parents last name. 
I am from Michigan and I am majoring in Accounting. I am hoping to own my own business one day either during college or after college, more than likely I will start it after college. 
I am doing online classes right now because I want to be 2 years seizure free before going to the dorms and I will be 2 years seizure free on April 7th. I played football and got a concussion which caused me to have seizures and fall behind in school, but I worked hard and ended up graduating on time in the class of 2019! I am excited to start my new journey as a college student. I love listening to music and watching Netflix.

I am from a very small town in Michigan with a population at about 2,000.  I am majoring in Veterinarian Technology, my goal is to spend my life helping others both animals and people. 

Two years ago I was diagnosed with Gastritis which means the lining of my stomach is inflamed. The pain during this experience was terrible I had to stay home for most of fair week, this broke my heart. As fair week was coming to an end I knew that I need to say goodbye to my cow one last time. I called my Boyfriend to come get me and take me to see my cow. On the way to the fair which was about 10 miles away was just a very long ride filled with motion sickness. After we arrived I had to sit down and rest to build up the strength to walk from one barn to another. After about an hour I stood up hunched over from the pain and slowly walked to the other barn. I had to push through the pain to get to my goal. This was the hardest thing I have ever had to face in my 19 years of life. Halfway through I almost gave up but I pushed myself and made it to him. This experience in my life has taught me that if I can make it through that then I can make it through anything I put my mind to.

I love animals so much, after college I plan on buying a large piece of land to build a farm on. Currently I own five cows, twenty-five chickens, four dogs, five rabbits, one fish, and five cats. I currently have a Border Collie named Ace who is my fur child. In the future I want to have at least two Border Collies. 

I love to participate in my county 4-H program, raising animals, riding quads, target shooting, reading, trail riding, spending time with my family and friends, listening to music, watching Netflix, and exploring new places and ideas. I cannot wait to meet all of my new class mates!

Hello Everyone
My name is Michael and I am from New York City. I live in Queens NY ( est ) just across the bridge from Manhattan. I live with my 6 year old Bichon puppy named Bailey( see attached) . I took a few years off from school to start my business and now I am back to finish up my BA in Human Resources. I am new to the canvas database so forgive me if i have some errors this week. I am finding it very confusing.
In my spare time I watch a lot of stream tv, exploring NYC and travel. I am a huge amusement park and Disney nerd. I am looking forward to working with everyone.

I live in Metro Detroit (eastern time zone) I started at baker about 6 years ago trying to accomplishing getting my associated in Business Management, fast forward 3 years life got the best of me and I wasn't getting what I wanted out of school so I took some time off to pursue different career options. Well then again working beyond full time it was never the right time for me to go back to school. Last month I realized my son was going to be one in no time and I decided it was time to get back into school not only for me but for him. I let my finance in on my plan and he was the one to really push me into it. I currently work 60 hours a week and we have our 1 year old so I am EXTREMELY nervous coming back to school. I have been out of school for a number of years so this has been a huge adjustment. My goal is to obtain my Bachelors in Accounting. I currently work as the CFO for a non-profit and my goal is CEO, however one requirement is a degree so here I am. 

I am a mother of two busy children ages 16 and 7. They both play sports year round and I coach soccer. When we are not on a field somewhere we like to vacation anywhere we can escape to for a few days with no deadlines.

A little fun fact about me is while I am returning to college as an adult, my 16 year old is starting as a dual enrollment in high school. This is his first semester and he is taking this exact same class from Baker. His is in the classroom and over 16 weeks instead of online but it's still kind of crazy we are in the same college class. 

I am very nervous to see how I am going to fit two classes into our already hectic schedule as fall is our busiest time of the year but I look forward to working with all of you.
