En primer lugar, los leucocitos (las llamadas células inflamatorias: primero neutrófilos y luego macrófagos) invaden el tejido lesionado y comienzan a limpiar la zona de desechos, tanto tejidos muertos y contaminantes como bacterias.          <title> Los macrófagos segregan mediadores para iniciar la reparación de la dermis. Los fibroblastos, las células principales de la dermis, migran hacia el tejido lesionado y producen colágeno, el componente más importante de la dermis. Se forma tejido conectivo fresco que rellena la brecha y recibe el nombre de tejido de granulación debido a su aspecto granular. Además, se forman nuevos vasos sanguíneos, proceso denominado angiogénesis.</title>
