Money can represent greed, sadness, and can make people insane. As we learn in chapter eight Amir becomes an insomniac and will never be able to forgot what he did. Correpondingly to becoming insane, Amir seems to never be happy, as he begins to always avoid Hassan.

At the end of chapter seven, Amir experiences post-traumatic emotions due to the powerful, evil event that he witnessed, he paints the story of his return home to his father, how is is accepted in and how he is glad that he forgot about Hassan. a selfish act, considering his friend and servant just got sexually abused, yet the scene is depicted as warm yet emotional, but not sad, scene of reconciliation between a father and son.

Their heads turned. Then a smile played on my father’s lips. He opened his arms. I put the kite down and walked into his thick hairy arms. I buried my face in the warmth of his chest and wept. Baba held me close to him, rocking me back and forth. In his arms, I forgot what I’d done. And that was good." This scene displays incredible imagery, the author describes the quote as if your in Amir's position and your experiencing what he's seeing.
