Workshop 1
14th September 2017

From reflecting in today's lesson, when travelling a improvised floor section I must be aware to always use my breath to enhance my use of kinaesphere. By doing this I must show in which body part/parts my focus is required in order to use my spacing efficiently even when there is moments of stillness.

Workshop 2
21st September 2017

Within my second lesson of movement and improvisation, we explored the idea of exchanging weight. From observing this me and tom we're able to notice how we explored our relationship through lifts as we connected with our physical connection of opposite arms and eye contact to take a balance and give each other weight through bending out knees and then being able to shift diagonally efficiently. From doing this exercise I must work particularly more on my ankles in ballet to strengthen them so we are able to change our levels.

Workshop 3
28th September 2017

From looking back on today's lesson, I found that partnering up and going going through the different muscles in a sports massage is highly beneficial for many reasons. Firstly, from doing this lesson I was able to understand the different types of bodies through people being slim, lean, having a stronger athletic body type to others and different lengths of legs, larger thighs and hips. Alternatively, from doing this lesson it was crucial as afterwards I felt I had more flexibility and mobility as my muscles felt less tight and tough. Also, I felt the massage had reduced pain in my neck which I hadn't felt before which removed pressure a relieve of pain.

Workshop 4
5th October 2017

From giving though in this lesson, it is important to theoretically analyse and identify what I notice in certain sections in another groups piece. From observing I was able to understand that the groups itself has a clear understanding on choreographic devices and was able to clear demonstrate canon, mirroring, and unison within their movement to make it clear and effective.

Workshop 5
12th October 2017

When developing actions we looked at jumping, gesturing and turning sequences. From reflect, my group gave a high quality in the movement development and was able to control our effort. A target I will hope to apply with all my lessons is to always have a strong starting, middle and ending position to show a confident idea with great flair. A strength of mine in this lesson was my ideas of using breath through the choreographic device of fall and catch. When doing this I felt I showed a clear demonstration of leg extensions and lifting my leg with control.

Workshop 7
2nd November 2017

Within today's lesson we partnered up with a second year to workshop their solos. I paired up with Ashleigh Dilling to learn a section of her Hofesh Schechter solo who is an Israeli choreographer. When learning this piece of choreography I had to make sure my body was heavy and that I could shift my weight with ease and efficiency as it was very floor work based. The movement itself consisted of balance, moments of stillness and breath. When performing my breath on certain moments emphasised the idea on my interpretation

Workshop 9
16th November 2017

From starting our second term on movement and improvisation as a group with Ashleigh, Cerys and Chloe we worked on motif development. From reflecting, when learning our rep and rehearsing it we must always consider a change of levels, directions and planes when exploring our ideas. When thinking of our stimulus we had to consider our focus in how I would enhance a certain section through performing a structured improvisation without setting it. I found this exercise difficult as the work wasn't pre worked but I was able to benefit from it as I could explore new movement.

Workshop 10
23rd November 2017

In today's lesson, I considered a jumping, travelling, turning, gesturing and stillness section for my dance motif when creating our unison section as a group. From reflecting, I can now explore my energy through turning by using different varieties of rolling, twisting and spinning through different levels. When working as my group we was able to have a rich connection to our stimulus which was at chance as the accompaniment complimented our piece. In order to enhance and further develop our idea we would next be stimulus based rather than focus on the movement.

Workshop 11
30th November 2017

A method of improvisation I worked on today was how I was able to look for openings when dancing as a group and how I was able to adapt with different ideas. When doing this I considered shifting and giving weight and having moments of stillness. When performing I was able to communicate my contact improvisation through moments of physical contact and showing an action with a reaction afterwards.

Workshop 12
8th March 2017

From starting back our lesson of movement and improvisation since November there are many aspects we recapped within our lesson today. Firstly, I am able to understand that the types of stimuli of visual, imagery, auditory and ideational can be communicated through reactions and intentions, images through body parts and showing different ideas. When working as a partner with Cerys we was able to focus on repetition, our use of focus and energy in tension when presenting two or more body parts through looking, hiding and touching them together. A weakness I always aim to progress on is my confidence through improvisation.

Workshop 13
15th March 2017

In today's lesson we worked on solo improvisation in a line. The way I performed my ideas was how to emphasis my my right hand and left ankle and how they could have a relationship with being close together and touching, and how I could make them further away from each other. After exploring this I used a different devices of spelling out different words I front of my, above me, and within my personal space.

Workshop 14
23rd March 2017

As we were performing an improvised section in the show we used practice time through out the day to show sections of relationships, focus, turning, gestures, sliding, and a variety of different dynamics. A strength of mine when doing this idea was how I was able to use the floor wisely and the stage efficiently to perform slicing, sharp, and dabbing dynamics. Similarly, I was then able to contrast and show smooth, light and sustained dynamics through my movements.
