They have a clearly religious Background, wherein sales were restricted on sabbath for church and respect to god. Upholding them simply because they meet a common need/goal ignores the religious fact behind it. It's placing that day of rest, purposefully, on the day of worship of one religion. Once again, favouring the monotheistic religions. When we bring McGowan v. Maryland into the picture, we see that it's bigger than even this. As an artist who is very against Christianity as a whole, this song often refers to not wanting to got to heaven, simple to avoid being with people who may push their values on the artist. This helps portray the frustration people can feel when a religion overreaches and tries to push it's values on others who do not want to ear about their religion. The Song is intended to be a 'shot' at all Christian people who use their religion as a basis of superiority to try and overpower others (mentioning many people who are effected by overreach, including Wiccans, Atheists, and others).
