The space resembled rather like an illustration from the Baroque era, with a dark surface and a powerful glow in the center. In that room, I found an outlet for a difficulty that has plagued me since I was a child: the inability to vocally articulate myself. My paintings are an ongoing search for the most suitable means of interpreting and expressing the thoughts I have about myself and how I see my environment. I'm not certain how to characterize my style because it evolves. I don't commit to a single medium or style. Like my own self-identity, I'm on a never-ending search to discover my purpose and style. Maybe it all goes hand in hand, and I'll figure out my art style as I figure out who I am. Francis Bacon and Jean-Michel Basquiat are two artists that have had a significant effect upon me. Both of these artists influenced my work, which may be evident throughout my work."
