A growing seed needs the right type of temperature, fertile soil and lots of water to germinate. Soil is not necessary for germination as many roots don't come in contact with it. These roots are called as Aerial roots.
A seed consists of three parts, root shoot and seed leaf. The root is the part that grows downwards and become the roots. However, the shoot grows upwards and later it becomes the stem of the plant. The seed leaf provides food to the seed, until it is ready to make its own food. Seeds which have one seed leaf are known as monocotyledons, and seeds that have two seed leaves are called as dicotyledons. In germination seeds develops into seedlings, which later becomes an adult plant.
