Bodily Kinistetic- good hand eye coordination, advanced motor skills, athletic, learn by doing; athletes, dancers, surgeons, police officer, people in the military
Visual Spatial- the ability to comprehend 3D images and shapes, awareness of your surroundings; architecture, artists, engineers, inventors
Musical- good ear for music, can tell when the note is off key; music directors, composers, singer, music teacher, choir director
Interpersonal- ability to understand and interact effectively with others; good communication skills and sensativity to moods of others
Naturalistic- individuals that can observe, organize and recognize patterns in one's environment
Intrapersonal- ability to understand one's inner world; therapist, counselor, psychologist

Standardization
-test is given to "sample" group first
-defines meaningful scores
-bell curve
-comparability to others who have performed
Average IQ score: 100

How to find IQ score:
-mental age/ chronological age x 100=IQ
Example: 10 year old who can answer questions of an 11 year old?
8 year old who can answer questions of a 6 year old?

Normal- 100 is the normal score
110-119 is bright normal
120-129 is superior
130 is very superior
150 and above is truly gifted

The Low Extreme
  • IQ score below- 70
    • Mild: 50-59
    • Moderate: 35-49
    • Severe: 20-34
    • Profound: under

Triarchic Theory (Sternberg):
  • practical intelligence-ability to thrive in the real world (common sense/street smart)
  • creative intelligence- the way a person approaches new information; a person's ability to apply their existing knowledge to new problems; really good at thinking on your feet (two types: novelty and automatization)
  • analytical intelligence- how a person processes and analyzes information (book smarts) (three components: executive, performance, and knowledge acquisition)
