Could we have some advice on how to set out a 'case study'?

A case study isn't too dissimilar to an essay. In an essay, you usually use research and theoretical perspectives to back up your argument - and then ground that in real world examples. In a case study, you're doing much the same, except you're basing it around one or a couple of fixed examples that we'll call your 'cases'.

It'll be something like:
Intro
Case study description
Analytical sections
Conclusion

How many academic theories need to be applied to the case study?

This one is like asking 'how many references do I need?'. The answer is the very vague 'it depends'.

You can get a 1st with only a couple of perspectives, or with many. What matters is that you create a convincing argument and that your arguments are well evidenced with relevant research and theory. I'm sorry that there isn't a more specific answer than that, but you can get an idea of if your work is on the right track in one of the feedback or writing sessions that we have lined up.

What is meant by one or more case studies?

You need to make a convincing argument using research, theory and evidence. You might only need one case study to back that argument up with, but you might need two or three- for example, if your work is a comparative study. If you're worried about your case study selection, don't panic - Rosie and I can go through this with you in the seminar and you'll get feedback in week 6 as well. Each week we'll be introducing new theories, so content should remain relevant even if you've chosen a case study that relates more to one of the earlier weeks. Jack.
