The share of wind and solar energy increased from 12.2% in the first half of 2020 to 12.9% in the first half of 2021. On the other hand, despite the steady increase in wind and solar energy, Turkey's share of renewable energy in production fell drastically between 2020 and the first half of 2021.By producing more than half of its total production (50.5%) from renewable sources in the first six months of 2020, Turkey ranked 10th among all European countries in terms of the share of renewable energy in total production. Connecting 61% of its production to fossil fuels in the first half of 2021, Turkey fell to 18th place in the same ranking this year. In addition, the country's share of hydroelectric generation fell to a record low, the lowest level since 2014.
