But the artist used the proceeds from his Op Art works to design and build his own museum in France, the Vasarely Museum. It closed in 1996, but there are several other museums in France and Hungary named after the artist. Victor vasarely died on the 15th of march 1997 and he was the age 90.victor vasarely went to Eotvos Lorand University. He lived in Paris and much of his work is housed in the vasarely musuem at the chateau de Gourdes in southern france.
