Chart student engagement per class period (10 minutes in, we minutes, etc.) to show teachers that lecture isn't most effective way. 

Asking students what they remember most next day after student centered activity 

Pairing lectures with engaging activities 

Varying activities throughout year to ensure all students are engaged

Covering material (lecture) doesn't mean you actually taught material 

Flipped classroom? Activities in class, reading at home? (One school doesn't allow students to participate in school activity until home piece is done and school activity counts for large portion of grade so students are motivated to compete home piece)

Finding appropriate primary sources?  

Planning, time available to change classroom

Want kids to think like historian, need prior knowledge and access to materials. 8th grade material isn't as interesting to kids as 11th.
