SUMMARY
The study focuses on the total contribution tourism has had on Malaysia, both direct and indirect impacts on all forms of sectors. To measure all impacts tourism has on the Malaysian economy, they performed a multiplier analysis. The results not only demonstrated that tourism can benefit all sectors of an economy, but it has a strong inter-industrial linkage with other sectors of the Malaysian economy compared to primary sectors. Meaning, sectors with low earnings from tourism expenditure do not have a strong inter-industrial relationship with tourism sector, such as primary sectors. In conclusion, the findings showed that tourism contributes largely to Malaysia’s economy, and sectors with a strong inter-industrial relationship with tourism sector generate a bigger income multiplier effect.
