Hello there! My name is Ainin Sofea. You can call me Pia or Pua. Why Pua? My dearest best friend loved to call me by that name :) I am 23 years old. I am kinda late pursuing my studies because I had to work and for sure need to choose my course very well. Thank god, everything went well. It is a bit hard at first because most of my classmates is under my age but we worked well. I love to take a nap after sleeping. It will flow away the sleepiness though. I used to hate the idea of "just try everything, because you only live once". But since I went into degree life, someone has taught me that trying new things wasn't a bad idea. I have 2 big brothers and a little brother. Just because I am the only girl in my family, others say that I look like "jantan". But that doesn't matter, I am who I am. I love being me. Simple and nice, alone but not that lonely because I have my crazy family and insane friends. Last but not least, I choose an education because I want to be like my father, my grandfather, a good teacher. They serve well as a teacher. I hope that someday, I can be like them.

Assalamualaikum w.b.t. Today is a first class for EDU555, Curriculum and Instruction. This subject will be taught by Madam Nurul Fitriah. She is nice, cute and so soft. I love the way she communicates with us as she had two ways communication and somehow I don't hesitate to speak out. Not like before, I am not confident to question and answer in class. For the first class, she introduced a bit about the subject and highlight about the assessments. The topics that have been highlighted were the definition of curriculum and instruction. She also mentioned what is KBSR, KBSM and KSSM. Luckily, we managed to answer as before this we also got the same question :'D Finally I got the picture about this subject and why it is matter.

Before start the lesson, madam Fitriah asked us to watch a powtoon video and we need to jot down the highlighted keywords related to curriculum. After that, she also asked us to watch a short video on how Japanese school students experienced their daily routine. Again she asked us to observe and jot down any positive attitude performed by the them. From the video that I have watched, it is clearly shows that Japanese is so discipline. They have been taught at the young aged. Their discipline can be seen through their manners, respect each other, hygiene awareness and so on. From this video too, I learned that it is rarely to see these things happen in Malaysian school education. It is way too different compared to Japanese school education. This is because, the Japanese school education wants to produce a society that is not only good in education but also in daily lifestyle. That is why Japanese thinks that focusing on the morality and how to be independent in daily lifestyle is an important thing to produce better society. I hope Malaysian school will practice the same way like the Japanese school school daily routine. As somehow our society is good in education bad having problem in morality and independent. At the end of the class, to test our understanding madam Fitriah asked us to write the definition of curriculum in a piece of paper and submit it to her.

For today's lesson, we have learned about teacher involvement in curriculum development. We also learned on the principles & procedures in curriculum development. It has 3 stages that are planning which is what to teach, implementation which is how to teach and evaluation. Next, we also learned what Tyler's objectives model is. There are 4 stages of it that are OBJECTIVE, CONTENT, METHOD, EVALUATION. The Tyler's model practising the method that are principle of continuity, principle of sequences (follow the order) and principle of integration (related to one and another coherently). Tyler's method is in the linear formation. Next, we also learned on the interaction model. The interaction model use similar method as Tyler's method but the interaction model has no specific stages to start. It can be started at any stages. To conclude, interaction model is a non-linear formation.

In this week, we have learned about Taba's model and contemporary model. Taba's model usually known as curriculum development for language program. On top of that, she agree with Tyler but Tyler's model need some improvement. She stated that the best way to develop curriculum is teacher themselves as she thinks that teachers are the one who teach the students, know the interests of the students and that is why teachers need to develop the curriculum. Taba's model also known as 'Grass-root' approach which is starts at the bottom.
There are 7 steps of Taba's model that are:
1. Diagnosis of needs (need analysis)
2. Selection of objectives
3. Selection of content
4. Organization of content
5. Selection of learning experiences
6. Organization of learning experiences
7. Determining what to evaluate and how to evaluate it
The strength of Taba's model are the curriculum is designed by teacher and more to teacher approach and gives power to the learners. While the weakness is not all the teachers are able to prepare the curriculum.

For contemporary model, there are 5 stages that are:
1. Need analysis
2. Formulate objectives
3. Select and organize content
4. Implement curriculum
5. Evaluate curriculum

In this week, we have learned about curriculum evaluation. Madam Fitriah highlighted on why it is important and how to conduct. We also learn the differences between assessment and evaluation. Assessment is known as gathering the data or collecting the data to see how well the students had learned for example test, project and presentation. For the evaluation, it is the teacher's judgement based on the students assessment. It is important because it will determine the outcomes of the program whether should be rejected or improve and maintain. Next, there are 2 types of assessment that are formative and summative. Formative is the ongoing program while the summative is the completion of the program to the effectiveness of the program.

However, I asked my friend what had they learned in the class. This week lesson was about educational emphasis. In this topic it was about the thinking skill on learning how to learn, ICT skills, values and citizenship, multiple intelligence, knowledge acquisition and preparation for the new world. Plus, the Educational Emphases reflect to the current developments in education. These emphases are infused and woven into classroom lessons to prepare students for the challenges of the real world. Thinking skill are divided into 2 that are creative thinking and critical thinking. Creative thinking is the students' ability to produce an idea while critical thinking is the students' ability to evaluate an idea. By these combination of thinking skills the students are able to make good decision and solve problems. Furthermore, madam Fitriah taught us about the preparation of the new world which life after studies. She highlighted that the ability to access information, knowing how to source for information, and knowing what information is useful at given time is important to meet the challenges of life and work.

In an increasingly advanced age, skills relating to ICT are important in the learning outcomes.

In this week, it is microteaching presentation.
The first pair was Farrah and Amira. They taught the PJK subject on Tarian Inang. Madam Fitriah commented that their pair's topic was good but they should introduce the history of the dance first to give the students information and knowledge what Tarian Inang is.
The second pair was my friend Syahirah Izzaty and I . We taught the students literature poem about Father entitled My Hero. We performed well for our lesson as we received positive comments from madam Fitriah and our friends. But as Nazirul's comment that there is a bit difference between Izzaty and I as Izzaty is more outstanding than me. But Izzaty defend that I have change a lot. I was able to present without verbal fillers, even I was nervous but I am able to control it.
Madam also add that our voice was very clear when giving the instruction and the way we managed the classroom was good. Madam also add that our teaching aids were very creative and we were being alert on the students that not paying attention. Thanks to my partner, Syahirah Izzaty who taught me many things for this lesson plan and how to handle it. I am thankful.
The third pair was Fatin Izzati and Fatiha Radzi. They chose the biology subject. It is a tough subject but they managed to handle it. Big applause for them. Madam Fitriah also gave a positive feedback on their microteaching.
The next pair was Fatihah Alpandi and Umi Rafiqa. They taught us the PJK subject. Madam also give a positive feedback in term of the clear instruction. They also creative on slides questions. But they need to make sure the fonts is clear and aware about time management as their lesson exceeded more than 20 minutes.
Next pair were Hamdan and Nazmi. This time, Nazmi showed an improvement a lot especially in the way he speaks. As before this, we are unable to understand what he is trying to speak because it is unclear. But he proves that he can change for better. Hamdam also performed well for the microteaching.
The last pair were Waliuddin and Yassir. They taught us about respiratory. They did a great microteaching by providing a creative teaching aids but, they still need some improvement to make the class become more fun as topic about science is always boring to learn.
I was impressed by everyone's teaching as we actually can teach. this can be seen when some of us are able to teach tough subject.

This was the last class for this subject. We proceed with 6 remaining pair of microteaching.
The first pair were Haikal and Ikhwan. Madam commented on how they managed the classroom. They did well in their microteaching.
The second pair were Harold and Syahmi. They taught us about motivation. It is an interesting topic. However, they need to improve in term of content delivery as the instruction should be clear. But overall is good.
The third pair were Nazirul and Azim. They have good two ways of communication between the teachers and students. Even they did not have any teaching aids, but both of them managed to teach the class well. Madam Fitriah was shocked with Nazirul as she thought that he is passive since he always stay silent in the class. But the way he taught is different from his behaviour. He is active and talk more than he ever did in the class. Other than that, Azim should work on his nervousness during teaching.

Next pair were Syafa and Haziq. They taught an interesting topic of Kemahiran Hidup that are the ethics in formal eating. Their activity is good as they gave each students a plate, set of spoon and fork. It feels real. They gave the students experiences by doing hands on work. We practised on how to do the eating ethic in formal event.
The next pair were, Muna and Aisyah. They managed to control the class. They also good in time management thus, their activity also interesting.
The last pair for microteaching were Hasyir and Fareez. They chose an interesting topic that was Tepuk Jalak in PJK subject. The activity was very interesting and everyone enjoy during their lesson as we are having fun and dancing together.

I would like to thank Madam Fitriah for teaching us even though she is pregnant but she shows a professional performance to us. I really like the way she delivers the content. It is clear and for some hard parts, she explains in clear and precise words. Somehow I think that she is like a teacher that I really want to always communicate with. Again thank you madam Fitriah for having us that is always loud, uncontrollable and hyperactive.
