         <title>..those that embrace technology</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Effective global collaborators are those that are able to understand and incorporate different viewpoints in a way that adds value to a project or conversation.  Global collaborators are those that embrace technology and use it as a tool to stretch their knowledge of a certain subject in order to increase their contribution, regardless of the scale they are working within.  <br>I really like the idea of being a teacher that facilitates students’ learning by giving students the tools and confidence to help educate themselves.  I think this is a great way for us as educators to prepare our students to not only be effective global collaborators, but also be leaders in global engagement.  This requires embracing technology in the classroom.  Teachers can allow students to use their phones to take control of their own learning.  It is our responsibility to show our class the different ways they can create a professional and academic internet presence.  This is a platform they can and will build on going forward when their world does become larger, and global collaboration becomes essential.  I think a great way to go about this is by having students not just voice their own opinions through social webs, but to also explore the opinions of others.  We must encourage not only have a meaningful discussion with the student sitting next to them, but also to explore what people around the world are saying about that same topic.  Giving them the tools and time to do so allows students to access a higher level of understanding without it feeling like work.  Considering the students have arrived at the information themselves, they are more likely to feel a stronger sense of accomplishment knowing they were responsible for their learning.</div>]]></description>

         <title>...those that are engaging with technology</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>One key thing in the video that stood out was that in the past seventy years most classrooms all looked the same. Effective global collaborators are understanding that students learn in different ways and to embrace this concept with how they teach children.&nbsp;<br>Teachers have been seen as the one with "power" in history but teachers not to be effective need to let go of the power and give it to the students to make a student-centered classroom. Students can master concepts and collaborate with other teachers and students to teach these concepts.&nbsp; This gives ownership to learning.&nbsp;<br>I like this idea because learning as I grew up was a teacher standing in front of a classroom and teaching. Teaching now is collaborative and use various technology methods to teach.&nbsp;<br>I really liked how the teacher created QR codes to have students listen to other students read. This increased fluency scores and allowed students to rely on other students to learn.&nbsp;<br>Education today needs to rely on more technology to make learning more effective. We as teachers need to increase our effort for our students to make global connections. This means digital field trips to places around the world and make connections with technology.<br>I am inspired by this video and to use these ideas in my classroom. I know paper and pencil styles of learning is still important but there is so much more to do to engage learners in learning by incorporating technology. &nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>to discover and pursue their interests, to find or create their place in the world, to learn from others, and to respectfully work with people who differ from themselves. Effective global collaborators have teachers who affirm their unique strengths and give them the confidence to share their knowledge or talents with their peers and community. I like the idea of teachers giving their students choices, tools to guide their learning, and allowing students to engage with course material from their own interests. A common theme throughout the videos was that effective technology use required a lot of forethought and planning on the part of the teacher. It is not&nbsp; reasonable to allow cellphone use in the classroom and expect that students will use it for scholastic purposes,&nbsp;<strong>unless</strong> the teacher has prepared online activities, links to resources, or specific guidance. &nbsp;</div>]]></description>
