The articles of confederation had many weakness that led to the Constitution. The main one I believe is that it had a weak central government and because of that congress did not have power to tax, so we couldn't defend the country. Another thing is that Congress could not enforce laws and did not have power over the states. Also, the articles of confederation required all 13 states approval to change the articles of confederation so therefore it was hard to change the document. Then was Shays Rebellion led to the Constitutional Convention where the constitution was wrote. After that most of the problems where fixed. In conclusion The articles of confederation had many weaknesses.

There were many weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation. First of all, there was a very weak National Legislature. Which means that control and power could not be held easily. Also, they had no power to tax so I'm sure money was a problem. Lastly, the people could not enforce laws. Which means without laws there's no control. All of these issues all led up to the writing of the Constitution in 1787.

The articles of Confederation had many downsides that led to the writing of the Constitution. For one, the government didn't have control over the the actions of the states. This caused the People to dread that the government was becoming too weak. The Government didn't have the money control over the taxes, which caused them not be able to pay the navy and the army to defend the nation. The government could not enforce the laws because there was not a central leadership to make sure that laws were being enforced in each state or a judicial branch to interpret laws and/or solve disputes between the different states. They had to have all of the thirteen states approval to make changes in the Articles of Confederation as well. As a result, the government realized that the Articles of Confederation could not support the new nation, and the Constitution was born.
