• You should start by identifying the correct format for your letter. In this case we would use Times New Roman and a font that is easily legible so size 12. Also identify he tone of the letter.
• Include your name and date along with the heading of your letter. Left align when appropriate.
• Start with a salutation, and address the letter to the reader.
• Next I would write the body of the letter with the first paragraph being an introduction to why I am writing the letter.
• Following Paragraphs should provide specific details of the information we are presenting.
• Last Paragraph you should reiterate the reason for the letter and thank the reader for viewing it, politely present opportunity for further discussion.
• In closing using a formal sign-off such as "Sincerely" or "Best Regards".
• Always Recite your name.
• Cite sources that you've used in presenting the information of your letter
• Proofread and spellcheck for errors

Sources:
“How to Write a Letter: Format and Types (with Example).” Indeed Career Guide, https://www.indeed.com/career-advice/career-development/how-to-write-a-letter.

1. Personally, I believe the letter heading is one of the most important details in writing a letter. This should include the date and any critical information like IMPORTANT or TIME SENSITIVE but this should be used sparingly.
2. Next is the Introduction. This should include who you're addressing and the reason for your letter. This will depend on who you're addressing. For some you could say, To whom it may concern I'm writing on behalf of my brother who has recently passed away. For others you could say, Dear Fred I'm writing about the ten dollars I borrowed from you last week. Make sure your introduction is to the point.
3. Next is the body. The body of the letter will contain all the information you intend to give to the person you're writing to. This should be spell-checked and also grammar-checked.
4. Then the conclusion. Make sure you're respectful, especially if the letter is work related. And end with something that will make the person want to respond. Sincerely yours,
John
Respectfully,
John
